UMRBA hosted a May 5-7, 2009 workshop to examine potential applications of biological indicators in CWA and ecosystem restoration programs on the river. Ideas offered for next steps include:
- Establishing an ad hoc ecosystem restoration-CWA interagency committee
- Engagement of CWA staff in ecosystem objective-setting for UMR reaches
- Holding a biological condition gradient workshop
- Engagement of CWA staff in UMRR LTRM Analysis Team refinement of indicators
- Developing biological assessment guidance
- Developing an inventory and comparison of sampling methods and datasets
- Examining the use of UMRR long term resource monitoring infrastructure to support enhanced monitoring
- Monitoring progress of the Lake Pepin TMDL and Mississippi Makeover effort
- Enhancing outreach and communication
