UMRBA submitted letters to the Administration and Congressional appropriations committees requesting the following FY 2026 federal funding priorities. This includes:
- $73 million for the Navigation and Ecosystem Sustainability Program (NESP)
- $52 million for the Upper Mississippi River Restoration (UMRR) Program
- $1 million to renew flow frequency probabilities and water surface profiles on the Upper Mississippi River System
- $250,000 for the Upper Mississippi River System Flood Risk and Resiliency Study
- Full utilization of the Inland Waterways Trust Fund to support inland navigation new construction and major rehabilitation projects
- Full capability for operations and maintenance of the Upper Mississippi River System 9-foot navigation channel
Following the enactment of the FY 2026 energy and water spending measure, UMRBA submitted a letter to the ASA(CW) requesting allocations through the discretionary appropriations.
